Elba P. S. Bon
Elba P. S. Bon works as an Associate Professor in biochemistry at the Chemistry Institute of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Bon holds an M.S. degree in biochemistry from the Chemistry Institute of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and in biochemical engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), Manchester, UK and a Ph.D. degree in biochemical engineering from the same institute. She is a Posdoc in molecular biology in the Department of Biology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, Mass, USA. Her research work has been directed to the field of enzyme technology. She has been the coordinator of national and international projects on the production, characterization, and use of amylases, peroxidases, cellulases, xylanases, proteases, asparaginase, and invertase produced by fungi, yeasts, streptomyces, and bacteria. Bon has also published over 70 scientific papers in international journals with peer review, besides books, chapters in books, and patents. She has been chairing or cochairing the Brazilian Seminars on Enzyme Technology, ENZITEC, Brazil since 1993.
