Imran Mirza, M.D., M.S., F.R.C.P.C., joined Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) in the summer of 2010 as Pathology Consultant. He obtained his medical degree from the University of The Punjab, Punjab, Pakistan and his M.S. degree in microbiology from The George Washington University, Washington, D.C., USA. He did his residency training in pathology at a Yale University affiliated program and his fellowship training at Cleveland Clinic. He is a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists, American Society for Clinical Pathology, and Royal College of Physicians of Canada. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, Hematology, and Molecular Genetic Pathology. Prior to joining SKMC, he was a Consultant Hematopathologist and Associate Professor for over 9 years at the University of Alberta Hospitals, Edmonton, AB, Canada. Mirza was also directing the Molecular Pathology Laboratory at the University of Alberta Hospitals since 2006. He currently holds an Adjunct Associate Professorship at the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, University of Alberta, Edmonton, AB, Canada, and is also an Adjunct Staff at the Cleveland Clinic. Mirza has contributed to many peer-reviewed journal articles and abstracts. His major research interests include myeloproliferative neoplasms, myelodysplastic syndromes, and acute leukemias.
