Esther Bell obtained her Ph.D. degree in the laboratories of Professor Lewis Wolpert and Dr. Paul Brickell at University College London, London, UK, investigating limb development. She then did a postdoc with Professor Andrew Lumsden on hindbrain development at Guy’s Hospital, London, before moving to New York to do a second postdoc with Professor Ali Brivanlou on neural induction at Rockefeller University. Since 2004, Esther has been working as a Research Career Development Fellow/Lecturer at the MRC Centre for Developmental Neurobiology, King’s College London. Her research interests are early neural patterning, in particular, the role of TGFß family members in germ layer specification and neural induction.
