Benoît Champagne
Benoît Champagne was born in October 1967. He received his first degree in 1989, and his Ph.D. degree in 1992, both in chemistry from the University of Namur. The subject of his Ph.D. thesis was the elaboration of polymer band structure methods for evaluating the polarizabilities of polymers. He accomplished postdoctoral stays at the Quantum Theory Project (Gainesville, Fla, USA) with Professor Yngve Öhrn and Professor Bernard Kirtman at the University of California in Santa Barbara. Since 1995, he has held a permanent position at the Belgian National Fund for Scientific Research (FNRS). He presented in 2001 his habilitation thesis on the development of methods for evaluating and interpreting the vibrational hyperpolarizabilities. He is presently a Research Director of the FNRS. His research interests are the development and applications of theoretical schemes for determining the (nonlinear) optical and electric properties of molecular and polymeric systems in gas and condensed phases as well as for simulating and interpreting vibrational spectra.
