Alasdair M. Barr

Alasdair M. Barr completed his doctorate in Neuroscience at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. The focus of this research was on rodent models of psychostimulant drug withdrawal. Post-doctoral research was conducted at The Scripps Research Institute and the University of California, San Diego, on the molecular biology of preclinical models of depression and schizophrenia. Dr Barr is presently an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology in the Faculty of Medicine, at the University of British Columbia. His current research involves translational studies with active programs in both preclinical and clinical research. Current programs include research into polysubstance abuse, and the link between drug use and psychiatric symptoms such as psychosis and depression.
