Stéphanie Sayen was educated at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Nancy, France, from 1994 to 2000. He received his Ph.D. degree in analytical chemistry and electrochemistry, Laboratory of Physical Chemistry and Microbiology for the Environment, University of Nancy, France, in 2003. Since 2005, he has been an Associate Professor at the Reims Champagne-Ardenne University, France. His research areas include the study of adsorption and desorption processes of organic (pesticides, emerging contaminants) and inorganic pollutants (metallic cations) in soils, investigation of potential adsorbents for remediation purpose, and characterization of interactions between metallic cations and environmental matrixes by X-ray absorption spectroscopy (EXAFS and XANES).
