Irene Sciriha, after completing her undergraduate and M.S. degree studies at the University of Malta (UoM), Msida, Malta, pursued the Ph.D. degree in graphs/linear algebra at the University of Reading (Reading, UK). She is currently Professor of mathematics, teaching algebra and the spectra of graphs at the University of Malta. Professor Sciriha was twice elected as the academic representative on the UoM Council. She was Chair of various university senate and council subcommittees including gender issues, auditing faculty of theology, and auditing institute of agriculture. She also served on the Quality Assurance, the Staff Development, Students’ Charter, Academic Work Resources, Ethics, and the Lisbon Convention Diploma Supplement Committees in accordance with the associated standards of the Bologna Process. Her research interests in abstract algebra and combinatorics extend to spectral graph theory and its applications in molecular chemistry, computer science, and social network analysis.
