Gustavo Rodrigo

Gustavo Rodrigo received his M.D. degree from the Universidad de la RepĂșblica, Montevideo, Uruguay. He then completed his medical residency in internal medicine followed by a fellowship in pulmonary medicine. Dr. Rodrigo served as a Visiting Professor at the Medicine Department of the University of Mississippi, USA, and he was recipient of a research Fulbright grant at the Medicine Department of Emory University, USA. He was Director of the Emergency Department of Military Hospital at Montevideo, Uruguay. He currently serves as Consultant of the Emergency Department of Military Hospital. Dr. Rodrigo is member of many professional societies, including the ALAT (Thorax Latin-American Association) and the American Thoracic Society. He has served as Chair of the Asthma Department of ALAT. The most important topics of his research are assessment and treatment of asthma (acute and chronic) and COPD. He published and edited numerous articles, book chapters, reviews, and abstracts. Dr. Rodrigo has been invited to lecture or chair sessions at many, national and international, meetings. He is currently Editor of Revista Americana de Medicina Respiratoria, Archivos de BronconeumologĂ­a, Update in Respiratory Care and Applied Technology, Advances in Pharmacological Sciences, Open Respiratory Medicine Journal, and Brazilian Journal of Pulmonology. In addition, he is an ad hoc reviewer for several other journals including European Respiratory Journal, Thorax, Chest, Respiratory Care, Intensive Care Medicine, American Journal of Emergency Medicine, and the New England Journal of Medicine.
