Shi Qian Wu received the B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees in July 1985 and April 1988, respectively, both from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, Hubei, China. He received a Ph.D. degree in electrical and electronic engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Nanyang Avenue, Singapore in June 2001. He is currently a Research Scientist in the Signal Processing Department, Institute for Infocomm Research Singapore. He has worked at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China, as an Assistant Professor, Lecturer, and then an Associate Professor from April 1988 to November 1997.He was the Deputy Director of Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Technology and Head of Division of Machine Tool Design and Research, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. From August 2000 to December 2001, he served as a Research Engineer before working as a Research Fellow in the Centre for Signal Processing, Singapore. From January till November 2002, he had been an Associate Research Staff in the Laboratories for Information Technology, Singapore. He has coauthored the book Dynamic Fuzzy Neural Networks (McGraw-Hill, Singapore, 2003). He has authored and coauthored more than 70 scientific publications (books, book chapters, and journal / conference papers). Three papers have more than 200 citations. Two papers are recognized as top 25 hottest articles in October till December 2005 and April till June 2009, respectively. Currently, his research interests include image processing, pattern recognition, fuzzy systems, and neural networks. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and Member of SPIE.
