Andrea Vecchione received his degree in medicine at the University of Rome La Sapienza. From 1998 to 2001, he was trained in molecular biology at the Kimmel Cancer Center, Philadelphia, USA, under the supervision of Professor Carlo M. Croce. In 2001, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Departments of Molecular Virology and Urology at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, Penn, USA. In 2005, he moved to the Ohio State University where he has his own research group, holding an appointment as a Visiting Assistant Professor. In 2007, he became an Associate Professor of pathology at the University of Rome La Sapienza. His research is focused on the molecular basis of cancer development and progression.
