Alessandro Weisz, M.D., serves since 2011 as the Director of the Laboratory of Molecular Medicine and Genomics of the University of Salerno. He is interested in pathology, genomics, and genetics. During most of his scientific career, his research activities focused mainly on regulation of gene transcription by nuclear receptors and extracellular stimuli. In particular, his studies focused on the identification of gene expression patterns defining the response of hormone-responsive human breast cancer cells to estrogen by systematic application of the microarray technology and more recently next-generation sequencing approaches.
