Shandong Tu received the B.S. degree in 1982 and the Ph.D. degree in 1988 from Nanjing Institute of Chemical Technology. From 1993 to 2001, he worked as an Associate Professor, Professor, Chairman of mechanical engineering, Dean of undergraduate education, and Vice President of Nanjing University of Technology. He has been a “Cheung Kong” Chair Professor authorized by Chinese Education Ministry, working at East China University of Science and Technology since 2001. He is now a Vice President of East China University of Science and Technology. He had worked as a Guest Scientist at KTH, Sweden, and lectured seminars in many countries, including South Korea, UK, Austria, Germany, and Japan. Professor Tu has a wide range of interests in research. He has contributed considerably to the progress of design and life assessment methods of high-temperature structures, mechanical reliability, and development of energy materials and novel heat transfer equipment. He authored more than 200 papers and received a number of distinguished awards including China National Science and Technology Progress Award, China Youth Science and Technology Award, and Young Researcher Award of 8th International Conference on Creep and Fracture. He is a Regional Member of International Council of Pressure Vessel Technology and Reliability Committee of International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science, President of Chinese Pressure Vessel Institution, and Vice President of Chinese Materials Institution. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of CPVI Transaction—Journal of Pressure Equipment and Systems—an Associate Editor of Global Journal of Engineering Education, World Transactions on Engineering and Technology Education, and a member of Editorial Boards of International Journal of Nonlinear Science and Numerical Simulation and Journal of Applied Energy.
