Kazuhiro Morishita

Kazuhiro Morishita was born in Nagasaki, Japan, in 1955. He received the M.D degree and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Tokyo, Japan in 1980 and 1986, respectively. In 1987, Dr. Morishita was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the NCI Frederick, Md, USA. From 1988 to 1992, he was a Research Associate at the Department of Biochemistry at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. From 1992 to 2000, he was a Senior Research Associate and Section Head at the Biology Division, National Cancer Center Research Institute, Tokyo, Japan. Presently, he is a Professor at the Department of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, University of Miyazaki. He is mainly interested in leukemogenesis and identified a numbers of leukemia-associated genes, such as EVI1 and MEL1/PRDM16. In 2006, he got the Credit Saison Award form the Japan Leukemia Research Funds. In 2008, he became a Board Member of the Japanese Cancer Association and the Japanese Society of Hematology.
