Mary Stracke

Mary L. Stracke was born in Maryland, USA, in 1949. She received a B.S. degree with high honors in physics in 1972 and an M.S. degree in zoology in 1975 from the University of Maryland at College Park, Md, USA. In 1979, she was awarded an M.D. degree from the University of Maryland in Baltimore, Md, USA, and completed residency in internal medicine at Baltimore City Hospital, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University. From 1982 to 1985, she was a Medical Staff Fellow at the Laboratory of Dr. Reuben Siraganian in the National Dental Institutes at the National Institutes of Health. Then in 1986, she entered a fellowship under Dr. Elliott Schiffmann at the National Cancer Institute. Presently, she is a staff scientist at the Laboratory of Pathology at the National Cancer Institute. She is mainly interested in tumor invasion and metastasis, cell motility, cell interaction with the extracellular matrix, biochemical pathway activation associated with cell motility and tumor invasion, and regulation of genes associated with tumor invasion and metastasis.
