Jianqiao Ye is the Chair of Engineering at Lancaster University, UK. He is a chartered engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. He has researched extensively on mechanics of composites, including its applications in aeronautical, mechanical, and civil engineering. He has been working on cracking, delamination, and failure of fiber-reinforced composite materials under triaxial loads and also on shape control/optimization of smart composites. He developed new models that have now been used in modeling material and stiffness degradation, damage assessment, and life span prediction of such advanced materials. He worked also on using FRP in strengthening and repairing concrete and metallic structures, interfacial properties, and fire resistance of the composite structures. Moreover, he has researched on progressive failure of building subjected to blast and fire. Ye has published over 150 technical papers in international refereed journals and conferences. He has also published one monograph and a textbook.
