Jianqiao Ye

Leeds University, United Kingdom

Jianqiao Ye is a reader of structural and materials modeling at the University of Leeds. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. He has researched extensively on mechanics of composites, including its applications in aeronautical, mechanical, and civil engineering. He has been working on cracking, delamination, and failure of fiber reinforced materials as a part of an international collaborative research on failure of laminated composite under triaxial loads and also on shape control/optimization of smart composites. He developed new models that have now been used in modeling material and stiffness degradation, damage assessment, and life span prediction of such advanced materials. He worked also on using FRP in strengthening and repairing concrete and metallic structures; interfacial properties and fire resistance of the composite structures. He is currently leading an international joint project on progressive failure of building subjected to blast and fire. He has published over 100 technical papers in international refereed journals and conferences. He has also published one monograph and a textbook.
