Ellen A. BeGole
Ellen A. BeGole received the B.S. degree from University of Michigan in 1955, the M.S. degree from Columbia University, New York City, in 1969, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1975. Her main interests are in biostatistics and educational research. She was a Provost’s Fellow at the University of Pittsburgh, and in addition, she held USPHS Traineeships at Columbia University and University of Pittsburgh. She also received a NATO Fellowship to attend the Advanced Study Institute on Discriminant Analysis and its Applications, Athens, Greece, in 1972. From 1973 to 1974, she was an Assistant Professor in the Office of Dental Education at the University of Florida College of Dentistry in Gainesville. Since then, she has been on the faculty or the Department of Orthodontics at Chicago College of Dentistry, the University of Illinois. Dr. BeGole is on the International Board of the Iraqi Orthodontic Journal, the Advisory Board of the Saudi Dental Journal, the Editorial Board of the Angle Orthodontist, the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, and the World Journal of Orthodontics. Dr. BeGole was invited to speak at Faculty of Dentistry, Kuwait University, in 2000, and was a Visiting Scholar at Universidad Romulo Gallegos in Venezuela, in 1998. She also received a Fulbright Senior Specialists Award to go to King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. She is a Member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. She has been actively involved in 17 grant applications, in addition to 92 refereed publications and 42 abstracts of national presentations. She has also written two book chapters in her career.
