Sabino Liuni

Sabino Liuni was born in Minervino Murge, Italy in 1955. He received a degree in biological sciences at the University of Bari, in 1983. Presently, he holds the position of a Senior Researcher and Manager of the Section Bari of the Institute for Biomedical Technology. He is mainly interest has been focused mainly on the design and implementation of specialized databases of nucleotide sequences and on the development of algorithms for the analysis of biosequences information. He also developed a specialized database of untranslated regions of eukaryotic mRNAs and related regulatory elements, which is widely used at international level. His current interest has been focused on development, analysis, and management of data generated by high-throughput platforms of next generation sequencing in cancer and metagenomics projects. He is the Coordinator of some research lines and member of some research project funded by national (MIUR, CNR) and international agencies in the field of bioinformatics. In particular, he is the responsible of the research unit into regional project for development of new bioinformatics and biotechnological tools to analyse gene profile expression of cancer using microarray data.
