Volker Runde

Volker Runde, after obtaining his Ph.D. degree in 1993 from Berkeley, Volker Runde, obtained the Habilitation from Saarbruecken (Germany) in 1999. At the same year, he was hired by the University of Alberta as an Assistant Professor; he was promoted to be an Associate Professor in 2003 and to a Full Professor in 2005. His research interests center on Banach algebras, abstract harmonic analysis, and operator spaces. He has published over 45 refereed articles and two books, one of which is an undergraduate textbook. From 2001 to 2009, he was an Associate Editor of the award winning high school mathematics magazine Pi in the Sky.
