Dr. Yoshinobu Baba is professor at Department of Applied Chemistry, Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya University. He is also a Presidential Advisor of Nagoya University, Vice Director at Health Technology Research Center, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, the Microdevice Group Leader, MEXT Innovative Research Center for Preventive Medical Engineering, Nagoya University, Professor at the Plasma Nanotechnology Research Center, Nagoya University, and a visiting Professor at Institute for Molecular Science, National Institutes of Natural Sciences. He is serving to over 15 scientific journals, including Anal. Chem. and Lab on a Chip, as an editorial board member. He is a member of Steering Committee for International Symposium on Micro Total Analysis System (uTAS). He is a co-initiator for the world largest Nanotech/Nanobio International Meeting and Exhibition in Japan. He is a general chair of several international meetings (microTAS, MSB, NanoBioEXPO, ISMM). He has been admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and American Academy of Nanomedicine, and received several awards for his contributions in capillary electrophoresis, microchip, and nanobiotechnology: award from the Society of Toxicology in 2004, MERCK Award in 2004, award from the Applied Physics Society of Japan in 2006, and The CSJ (Chemical Society of Japan) award for creative work in 2008. His major area of interest is nanobiosicence and nanobiotechnology for genomics, proteomics, glycomics, systems biology, single molecule manipulation, and medical applications. He is the author or co-author of 558 publications, including research papers, proceedings, review articles, books, and book chapters. He has delivered more than 500 plenary and invited lectures at conferences, universities, and governmental/industrial laboratories.
