Dr. Panos Papagiannakopoulos is professor Physical Chemistry at the Chemistry Department of the University of Crete since 1984. He performed undergraduate studies at the University of Athens, graduate studies at Boston College, and postdoctoral studies at the University of Southern California. He has also worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee and Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey. His research interests are in the area of experimental physical chemistry: chemical kinetics and mechanism of gas phase and heterogeneous atmospheric processes, CFC alternatives, laser photochemistry and synthesis of novel materials. He is a member of the Energy Committee of the Academy of Athens. He has been director of National Hellenic Research Foundation, and national representative and expert to the 5th and 6th Framework Program Committee for the Environment DG Research of European Union.
