M. Mahmun Hossain

M. Mahmun Hossain received his M.S. degree in chemistry from the University of Dhaka, Dhaka, Bangladesh. In 1985, he received his Ph.D. degree from the University of South Carolina under the supervision of Professor Robert S. Bly. After about 3 years of postdoctoral study with Professor Jack Halpern at the University of Chicago, Hossain joined the Department of Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee as an Assistant Professor. Later, he was promoted to be an Associate Professor and received a Research Award from the UWM Foundation for his outstanding research and creativity. Furthermore, in 2009, he served as a Chair of the Milwaukee Section of the American Chemical Society. His research focuses on catalytic asymmetric reactions and also on the development of novel methods for the synthesis of biologically active small molecules.
