Piergiorgio Alotto received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering in 1997 from the University of Genova, Italy, after having worked, from 1992 to 1994, for the Scientific Software House Vector Fields Ltd, Oxford, UK. From 1996 to 2005, he was an Assistant Professor at the University of Genova, Italy, and since 2005, he has been an Associate Professor of electrical engineering at the University of Padova, Italy where he teaches computational electrical engineering. Professor Alotto's research interests include the numerical modelling of electromagnetic devices, the solution of multiphysic problems, and the single- and multiobjective optimization of devices and systems by means of stochastic algorithms. He has authored more than 120 articles in international journals and international conference proceedings.
