Weiya Ma received her Ph.D. degree from the Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics, McGill University in 1996. Then, she did two postdoctoral fellowships at Queen’s University and McGill University in Canada (1995–2000). She went to Wake Forest University, North Carolina, USA to take a Research Faculty position (2000–2003). In 2004, she came back to Douglas Mental Health University Institute, McGill University to work as a Research Associate. In 2008, she was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychiatry, Douglas Mental Health University Institute, McGill University. She has successfully secured operating grants from national funding agencies such as the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and Natural Science and Technology Research Council of Canada (NSERC). She is leading a vigorous research team which focuses on exploring the role of PGE2 in the genesis of chronic pain states. She is well recognized in her field. So far she has published more than 60 research articles and 4 book chapters and is frequently invited to write review articles and serve as reviewer and quest editor for various journals.
