Kunal Mitra

Kunal Mitra received his Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from Polytechnic Institute of New York University (6/93–5/96), an M.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the same university (8/91–5/93), and a B.S. degree in the same field from Jadavpur University, Calcutta, India (7/87–5/91). Since 2008, he has worked as a Professor at Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department, Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, Fla, USA and as a Director of the Biomedical Engineering Program, Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, Fla, USA. Mitra research interests are mainly in short pulse lasers and X-rays for biomedical imaging and therapeutic applications, thermal radiation transport modeling and experiments through biological tissues and other participating media, bio-heat transport, nanobiosensors for cellular interrogation, microscale heat transfer, laser-material processing applications, solar engineering, photovoltaic systems, and energy systems.
