Xueping Zhou

Xueping Zhou was born in Jiangsu Province, People Republic of China (PCR) in 1965. He received the B.S. degree, the M.S. degree and the Ph.D. degree in Plant Pathology from Nanjing Agricultural University, PCR, in 1986, 1989 and 1992, respectively. From 1992 to 1994, he was a postdoctoral researcher in Zhejiang Agriculture University (ZAU), PCR. He joined the Institute of Biotechnology, ZAU in 1994 as an Associate Professor. From 1996-1997, he was a visiting scientist in the Department of Virology, Scottish Crop Research Institute, Dundee, UK. Since 1998, he is a Professor at the Zhejiang University. Presently, he is the Director of Institute of Biotechnology, Zhejiang University, Deputy Director of the National Key Laboratory of Rice Biology, and Vice President of the Chinese Society for Plant Pathology. His research interests include interaction between begomoviruses and plants, diversity and evolution of begomoviruses and their associated satellite DNA molecules, virus induced gene silencing and identification of gene function, transgenic research for virus resistance, molecular biology of tenuiviruses. In the past 10 years, his work led to 90 publications in referred journals. He is an Editor of Science in China Series C- Life Sciences, Journal of Zhejiang University SCIENCE B, Journal of Zhejiang University-Agriculture and Life Sciences, Acta Phytopathologica Sinica, Chinese Journal of Virology and Virologica Sinica.
