João-Batista Destro-Filho

João-Batista Destro-Filho was born in São
José do Rio Pardo, SP, Brazil, 1970. He
received the B.S.E. degree in 1991 and
the M.S. degree in 1994, both from the
School of Electrical and Computer Engineering
(FEEC), University of Campinas
(Unicamp), SP, Brazil. He received the
Ph.D. degree in signal processing from the
I3S Laboratory-CNRS, University of Nice-
Sophia Antipolis, France, in 1998. During
1999–2002 he worked as a visiting professor at the Postgraduate
Program of FEEC/Unicamp, teaching both undergraduate and
graduate courses. At the same time, he was also Post-Doctoral Researcher
at the Communications Department, FEEC, UNICAMP,
leading projects on the application of signal processing to mobile
communications and GPS. During 2000–2001, he was parttime
associated researcher at the Biomedical Informatic Center
of Unicamp, working in a multidisciplinary project as volunteer.
In January 2003, he will join the School of Electronic Engineering
(FEELT) of the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), MG,
Brazil, working as an assistant professor. His research interests include
digital communications, nonlinear unsupervised signal processing,
high-order statistics, neurosciences and education.
