David C. Howlett

David C. Howlett was born in London, UK, in 1964. He was qualified in medicine (M.B.B.S. degree) at Kings College Hospital, London, UK, in 1988, and following medical jobs, he obtained an M.R.C.P. degree (UK) in 1992 and entered radiological training at Guys and St. Thomas' Hospital. He attained the F.R.C.R. degree in 1995 and became a Consultant Radiologist at the Eastbourne District General Hospital, East Sussex, UK, in 1997, where he is still in position. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) in 2009. In addition, he has published widely in radiology, with particular interest in head and neck imaging, the salivary glands, diagnostic ultrasound, and ultrasound-guided biopsy techniques. In addition, he is on the editorial board of several journals, has edited two textbooks, and sits on a wide range of committees at the Royal College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Radiologists. Howlett is involved in postgraduate radiological education at the London Deanery and as a Royal College of Radiologists Regional Postgraduate Educational Adviser and is also involved in undergraduate education. He is the Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of London and is an Honorary Reader in imaging and electronic learning at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, where he leads the year 5 online educational module.
