Dwarf Galaxies in Voids: Dark Matter Halos and Gas Cooling

The mass accretion histories for several haloes. In each panel the total mass (solid line) and the condensed mass (dashed line) of one halo is shown. We have divided the condensed mass by the mean cosmic baryon fraction, , to highlight when the condensed mass does not follow the expectation according to the mean baryon density. In addition, the characteristic mass (dotted line) is shown as derived from baryon fraction in newly accreted matter. One can clearly see that haloes cease to condense baryons when their total mass falls below the characteristic mass.
