Recent Developments on Optimization, Diagnosis and Control Methods for Modern Complex Systems

Call for Papers

Due to the increasing demands on reliability safety as well as economic performance, the modern systems become more and more complicated with significant increasing automation degrees. Thanks to the well-established model-based control and diagnosis techniques in last two decades, numerous successful methods have been developed and applied in modern industrial processes. On the other hand, without prior knowledge about the underlying processes, the data-driven techniques have received considerable attention due to direct utilization of huge amount of available measurements with relative less design efforts for control and diagnosis purposes. The recent developments focused on related topics for modern complex systems thus become more important for both academic and industrial domains.

The primary objective of this Special Issue is to provide a forum for researchers and practitioners to exchange their latest achievements and to identify critical issues and challenges for future investigation on mathematical modeling, optimization, monitoring and control of modern complex systems. The papers to be published in the issue are expected to provide the latest results in advanced techniques especially for large-scale process industry, advanced complex electric/mechatronic systems and complex nonlinear and switching systems. Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Mathematical modeling and identification for modern complex systems
  • Robust control and filtering issues for complex systems
  • Optimization theory for controller and observer design
  • Recent developments on model based and data-driven techniques
  • Fault diagnosis, prognosis and healthy monitoring system design
  • Big data solutions with complex system applications
  • Intelligence techniques, such as fuzzy logic neural network approaches
  • Simulation technology for complex systems
  • Advanced industrial applications
