Artificial Intelligence Applications in Biomedicine

Call for Papers

Recent technological advances in medical informatics, biomedical engineering, and biomedicine facilitated the development of complex biomedical systems including innovated clinical and computer-based decision support systems, knowledge acquisition and management, medical imaging, computational intelligence in bioclinical medicine, molecular medicine, and healthcare organizational aspects.

Additionally, artificial intelligence is having a great impact on the fields of biology, biotechnology, and medicine in general and can be implemented in real-world applications through applications of machine learning, neural computing, expert systems, fuzzy logic, genetic algorithms, or Bayesian modeling.

While AI tools and techniques are a vital part of modern computer-based systems that handle medical data, we invite researchers to contribute original research articles as well as review articles describing advanced prototypes, innovative systems, tools, and techniques, as well as papers indicating future directions or professional work-in-progress reports. Theoretical contributions may include presentation or analysis of the properties of novel AI methodologies potentially useful to solve biomedical problems or the requirements of new AI-inspired tools and systems in the medical field. Acceptance will be based on quality, originality, and the practical value of the work. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Healthcare process management
  • Knowledge acquisition and management
  • Protocols and guidelines
  • Computational intelligence in bioclinical medicine
  • Computer/clinical decision support systems
  • Medical imaging and signal processing, text analysis
  • Natural language generation and understanding
  • Medical data mining
  • Bioinformatics and neurosciences
  • Drug discovery
  • Intelligent analysis of genomic and proteomic data
  • Automated reasoning and metareasoning in medicine
  • Machine learning, knowledge discovery, and data mining
  • Medical informatics and biomedical engineering
  • Artificial neural networks, expert systems, fuzzy logic, and systems
  • Genetic algorithms and programming, Bayesian models
