The (smoothed) percentage of hydrophobic residues at each position (1 is the N-terminus) for each class of sequence. Data is smoothed with a window size of five, centred on the given residue. The dotted line is for all HP sequences of length 20 with a unique global minimum. The other four lines correspond to groups 𝐶 , 𝐼 , 𝐵 , and 𝐺 , as described in the text. Of greatest interest here is the fact that hydrophobicity in the nitrogen terminus region for group 𝐶 is higher than that in the carbon terminus region.
