Advances in Instrumentation and Monitoring in Geotechnical Engineering

Description

Geotechnical instrumentation to monitor the performances of earth and earth-supported structures is increasingly becoming popular. Verification of long-term performances, validation of new theories, construction control, warning against any impending failures, quality assurance, and legal protection are some of the many reasons for geotechnical instrumentation. They are not only used in field situations, but in laboratories too. With the recent advances in materials and technology, and the need for more stringent performance control, there had been significant developments in the recent past in instrumentation and monitoring techniques.

The main focus of the special issue is to document the recent advances in the instrumentation and monitoring techniques in geotechnical engineering. This will be a state-of-the-art issue that will also become an international forum for researchers to summarise their cutting edge research in the field of geotechnical instrumentation. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • New instruments for field and laboratory applications
  • Quality assurance and/or performance control
  • Numerical modeling of instrumentation data
  • Real time measurements and monitoring
  • Constitutive modeling
  • Data acquisition and measurement case studies

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ace/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/ according to the following timetable:
