Figure 16: Calculated temperature dependence of the mean square C u - O displacement 𝜎 2 ( 𝑇 ) . 𝑇 ∗ is defined as the temperature where the first divergence in 𝜎 2 ( 𝑇 ) appears (in this example at 𝑇 = 100 K). The lower temperature divergence occurs at or below 𝑇 𝑐 depending on the pairing symmetry as explained in the text. The inset shows the experimental results obtained in [26–28].
