Schematic diagram of the Peltier-element-based adiabatic scanning calorimeter. The sample cell 1 is in good thermal contact with the miniature heater 2 and temperature sensor 3 on top of the Peltier element 4 positioned on the bottom part of the first adiabatic shield 6, itself surrounded by another thermal shield 7. 9 and 10 are resistive heaters and 5 and 8 resistance thermometers. The whole calorimeter is placed in a temperature controlled oven.
