The Molecular Biology, Pathology, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Primary Extranodal Lymphomas of the Stomach

Call for Papers

Gastrointestinal lymphoma is the most frequent form of extranodal lymphoma, accounting for up to 40% of cases with stomach being the most commonly involved site. The most common histological subtypes include diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and marginal zone B-cell lymphoma of the mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT). Helicobacter pylori infection has been causally associated with the pathogenesis of MALT gastric lymphoma, but its role in gastric diffuse large B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) is uncertain. The therapeutic approach for patients with gastric NHL has been revised and modified the past decade. Surgical intervention has been replaced by conservative treatment strategy with anthracycline-based chemotherapy alone or in combination with involved-field radiotherapy as standard therapy in DLBCL histology. Additionally, lasting remissions can be attained in H.-pylori MALT lymphomas with antibiotics alone. Despite the significant advances in the diagnosis, staging, and management of primary extranodal gastric lymphomas over the past two decades, several therapeutic strategies for primary gastric lymphomas are still controversial and many questions remain unanswered.

We invite authors to submit original researches and review articles regarding the pathology of, including prognostication, as well as the development of future treatment options. We are particularly interested in papers describing new and novel targeted therapeutics and related prognostic factors that may predict response and/or survival. The authors are asked to report a critical evaluation of these treatment options showing their efficacy and complications. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Pathology of primary extranodal lymphoma of the stomach
  • The role of imaging in primary extranodal lymphoma of the stomach
  • Molecular biology focusing on the role of H. pylori infection
  • Is there any role for gastrectomy?
  • The role of radiation primary extranodal lymphoma of the stomach therapy in the treatment of primary extranodal lymphoma of the stomach
  • New targeted therapeutic options, alone or combined with chemotherapy
  • Genetic alterations and the tumor microenvironment

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ah/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/ah/nodal/ according to the following timetable:
