Segmented Solid State Detectors
Call for Papers
Solid state detectors are rapidly developing in many research fields including high energy physics at accelerators, astrophysics, and medicine. This fast evolution is mainly due to recent improvements in nano- and microtechnologies that allow construction and testing of a completely new family of semicondutor devices.
Lately, a new era for photodetection began with the advent of avalanche photodiodes’ Geiger mode operation where semiconductor-based photodetectors reached almost the same sensitivity as traditional photomultipliers, but with many key advantages in therms of power consumption, weight, and magnetic field “insensitivity.”
Furthermore, new developements in solid state pixellated detectors are opening interesting fields of research where “imaging” is needed. Examples range from medicine and astrophysics to high energy materials and molecular biology at hadron and synchrotron accelerators where enoumous particle rates can make their tracking challenging.
We would like to invite authors to submit original research and review articles describing recent work on systems as well as research and development of new concepts using solid state detectors for medicine, astroparticle, and accelerator physics. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Development and testing of silicon photomultipliers
- Detectors using or proposing to use silicon photomultipliers
- Development and use of hybrid photodetectors
- Development of solid state segmented (pixels and strips) detectors
- Detectors using solid state segmented geometries
- Development of novel segmented detectors using other semiconducting substrates
Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ahep/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/author/submit/journals/ahep/detect/ according to the following timetable:
| Manuscript Due | Friday, 5 July 2013 |
| First Round of Reviews | Friday, 29 September 2013 |
| Publication Date | Friday, 15 November 2013 |
