Ubiquitous Multimedia Systems in Smart Environments

Call for Papers

The ubiquitous computing (UC) has rapidly emerged as an exciting new paradigm which integrates different active research areas providing new exciting seamless services in smart environments (SE). The advanced multimedia applications for UC facilitate the seamless integration of multiple modalities into interoperable multimedia frameworks, transforming the way people work and interact with multimedia data. These key technologies and multimedia solutions interact and collaborate with each other in increasingly effective ways, contributing to the multimedia revolution and having a significant impact across a wide spectrum of consumer, business, and governmental domains.

This special issue aims to provide an advanced theory and application for researchers and practitioners to contribute with original research and review articles that present the state-of-the-art research outcomes, practical results, and latest findings in the area of multimedia and ubiquitous environments including models and systems, new directions, and novel applications associated with the utilization and acceptance of ubiquitous multimedia systems.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Ubiquitous multimedia systems (UMS) and framework
  • Multimedia modeling and processing for UMS
  • Advanced algorithms and protocols for UMS
  • UI/UX based multimedia services
  • Security issues in UMS
  • Wireless sensor and RFID for UMS
  • Internet of Things based UMS
  • Cyber physical system for UMS
