Inverse Substructuring Method for Complex Dynamical System

Call for Papers

Frequency response function- (FRF-) based substructuring method takes FRFs as its building block to predict system response via either an impedance or compliance-type computational model. One main advantage of this method is that it can lead to simplified modeling studies involving modifications of the complex system by substituting a single component independently, making it a very convenient and attractive method. In recent years, the structural dynamic community showed a renewed interest in the reverse problem, namely, how to obtain the unknown component FRFs from the assembled system. This is a relevant issue for the component that cannot be measured directly or accurately, such as very delicate components.

This special issue aims at gathering original research articles as well as review articles that will support and stimulate the continuing efforts to understand the research and development of inverse substructuring method for complex dynamical system as well as the applications. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • The impedance approach for inverse analysis of engineering problems
  • The mobility approach
  • The constraint force decoupling approach
  • The inverse substructuring method
  • The step-by-step decoupling method for inverse substructuring approaches
  • The time-domain substructuring method and inverse problems
  • Substructuring and the inverse substructuring method for system with nonlinear joint
  • The translational and rotational coupling method
  • Uncertainty propagation in the coupling and decoupling procedures
  • Nonlinear response of the complex system and its inverse problems
  • Dynamics of the multicomponent coupled system
