Mechanical Behavior and Microstructure Evolution in Manufacturing Processes
Call for Papers
The high requests to modern manufacturing processes have been proposed on high precision, low cost, short cycle, and environment friendliness in the past decade. The intensive research on material behavior and evolution, which is vital to process evaluation and, therefore, is a part of performance, has been investigated with abundant achievements. Recent advances in material and manufacturing have introduced new technologies to study dynamic mechanical properties, history of microstructure variation, mechanisms for manufacturing, and acquirement of precise material data. Knowledge and understanding of material fundamentals have led to the development of new materials, new processes, new measurement methodology, and accurate physics-based models.
We invite investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that will stimulate the continuing efforts to understand fundamentals of material evolution underlying certain processes, tests of dynamic mechanical properties, process control methodology, and the evaluation of outcomes. We are particularly interested in articles describing the development and evaluation for new metal materials; mechanism of new manufacturing processes; physics-based modeling for processes; and extremely precise test methodology. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Recent developments in new materials and new processes
- Advances in characterization of materials through high resolution devices
- Latest technologies for mechanical properties and microstructure evaluation and measuring outcomes
- Role of mechanical properties in manufacturing processes and applications
- Manufacturing mechanism investigated using model systems or precision facilities
- Physics-based modeling and simulation on macro- and microscale for manufacturing processes
