Recent Developments in Design and Manufacturing Technologies

Call for Papers

This special issue calls for emerging opportunities and future directions in manufacturing automation technologies. It will focus on promoting the efficiency, precision, reliability, and stability of the machines by developing intelligent system and precision machining. Furthermore, the development of software, sensors, measurement, on-line control, and intelligence control technology will be also welcomed in the special issue. The manufacturing automation where information technology-based modeling, analysis, control, and optimization are the focus areas.

The special issue welcomes papers from the 4th International Conference on Mechanical Science and Engineering (ICMSE2014) (http://www.icmseconf.org). ICMSE 2014, which is cosponsored by Zhengzhou University, International Association of Management Science 8 Engineering Technology (IAMSET), and Trans Tech Publications Inc. (TTP) (http://www.scientific.net/conference-861), will be held in Sanya, Hainan, China, during January 2–4, 2014. The objective of ICMSE 2014 is to provide a platform for researchers, engineers, academicians as well as industrial professionals from all over the world to present their research results and development activities in mechanical science and engineering.

The purpose of this special issue is to show the state-of-the-art research and applications in the general area of manufacturing automation, by bringing together researchers and practitioners from both academia and industry, to address the significant advancement, expose the unsolved challenges, present the critical needs for integration with new technologies, and provide visions for future research and development.

The special issue is not limited to the selected conference papers, but also welcomes submissions from outside contributors. We invite investigators to contribute with original research articles as well as review articles to this special issue. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, optimization, and simulation technology
  • Manufacture materials
  • Development of intelligent computer-integrated manufacturing
  • The development of mold technique
  • Reverse engineering, rapid prototyping, and rapid tooling
  • Electromechanical integration technology
  • Robotic system
  • Precision machine tools and micromachining technology
  • Error measurement and compensation for machine tools, cutters, and pieces
  • Technology of on-line control work pieces precision
  • Advanced control technologies of electrical discharge machines
  • Technologies of ultraprecision machining
  • Technologies of microsystem machining
  • Process planning and control
