Specific humidity (kg kg⁻¹) cluster 3 RI composite 1000 hPa (panel (a)) and non-RI composite (panel (b)) and the resulting differences in the permutation test of the fields for 1000 hPa (panel (c): shaded areas are significant at or less). The dry region over the storm center was apparent for 3 RI clusters. The value field reveals this region to be not statistically significant; however, this could have been due to influences of land.
