Nanostructured Materials: Formation, Characterization, and Properties—Latest Advances in 1D, 2D, and 3D Nanostructures

Call for Papers

“There is plenty of room at the bottom”: these words of Richard P. Feynman (Caltech, December 29, 1959) are considered to be the beginning of the world of nanoscience and nanotechnology. Today, the variety of nanostructured materials that is possible to elaborate, either by “bottom-up” or “top-down” processes, has only limits in the imagination of the researcher. In addition, the availability of powerful experimental tools allows the structural characterization, even of individual objects at the nanoscale, making it possible to refine synthesis techniques. On the other hand, theoretical approaches, including structural modeling, are also important for understanding the relationships between the nanostructure and the new, and often unexpected, properties of nanomaterials.

This volume aims at giving a broad overview and the latest accomplishments related to research and development of new synthesis routes, experimental studies of structural and physicochemical properties, and theoretical approaches, leading to a better understanding of the relevant properties of 1D, 2D, and 3D nanostructures. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Nanoparticles and nanocrystals
  • Nanotubes and nanowires
  • Nanofilms, including graphene
  • Nanosurfaces
  • 2D and 3D nanostructures
  • Formation routes of nanostructured materials (PVD, MOCVD, lithography, sol-gel, and others)
  • Nanostructure characterization techniques (HRTEM, ED, XRD, SERS, SAXS, and others)
  • New properties of nanostructured materials
