Advanced Materials and Technologies for Photonic Networks and Systems

Call for Papers

We have witnessed significant advancement in capacity and transmission distance in photonic networks for providing a proliferation of different super broadband applications, including high-definition video broadcast, mobile communications, and cloud computing. The realization of all these advancements in photonic networks is due to the support of different enabling technologies in devices, components, and systems, as well as the development of different new and ultrafast materials in recent years.

We invite researchers to contribute with original research papers as well as review papers describing the state-of-the-art, theoretical, and applicative advances of materials and technologies for photonic network and system applications. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Advanced materials for ultrafast photonic systems
  • Photonic devices using silicon or graphene
  • High-speed photonic devices and optoelectronic integration
  • Terabit capacity transmission technologies
  • 100G and beyond broadband access networks
  • Fiber-to-the-home and passive optical network (PON) technologies
  • Enabling technologies: modulation formats, coding, DSP for coherent detection
  • Optical millimeter-wave generation and demodulation techniques
  • Radio-over-fiber network architectures
  • Free space optical wireless and visible light communication systems
  • All-optical signal processing
  • Multicore or multimode spatial multiplexing
