Microwave Photonics

Description

Microwave photonics is an interdisciplinary field studying the interaction between microwave, millimeter wave, and terahertz waves with photonic technologies. From early work in the late 1970s, this field has expanded considerably, producing a number of applications and attracting the interest of a wide range of researchers. These applications include radio-over-fiber links for mobile and satellite systems, remote feeding and control of microwave antennas and radar, photonic-assisted analog-to-digital conversion, and systems and techniques for optical signal processing.

We invite researchers to contribute original as well as review articles on new components, systems, and techniques for microwave photonics applications. Relevant topics of interest to this special issue include, but are not limited to, the following areas:

  • High-speed photonic components and crystal cavities, including design and fabrication
  • Integration and packaging of photonic devices for microwave processing
  • Optically controlled microwave devices
  • High-speed photonic analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion
  • Radio-over-fiber links and networks
  • Photonic generation and distribution of microwave, millimeter, and THz signals
  • Optical control of phased array antennas, antenna remoting, and radar
  • Optical signal processing of microwave signals
  • THz photonics and applications

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/aot/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/ according to the following timetable:
