Transconductance figure of merit extracted from simulation of a diode-connected FET. The effect of length on the transition from weak to strong inversion is clearly seen. Longer transistor channel lengths have larger output resistance because they are less affected by channel length modulation, but have lower drive currents in moderate inversion.
