Anxiolytic and Antidepressant-Like Effects of the Aqueous Extract of Alafia multiflora Stem Barks in Rodents

Effects of the aqueous extract of A. multiflora stem bark or fluoxetine on the forced swimming test in rats. Animals were treated with the extract (150 mg/kg or 300 mg/kg, i.p.) or distilled water once a day for 7 days. In the positive control, fluoxetine (Flux) was given only once (10 mg/kg, i.p.) 30 min prior to the test. Each column represents the mean ± SEM of 6 animals. Data analysis was performed using Dunnett’s t-test, * ; ** significantly different from saline-treated animals.
