Microbial Diversity and Biochemical Potential Encoded by Thermal Spring Metagenomes Derived from the Kamchatka Peninsula

Maximum parsimony phylogenetic tree based on all bacterial 16S rRNA gene sequences. The tree was calculated using the ARB software package [33]. Sequences are characterized by sample designation (km, Kamchatka Mutnovsky; ku, Kamchatka Uzon Caldera), length of amplicon ((a), 1100bp, (b), 730bp), number of sequence, and accession number. Sequences derived from the Mutnovsky are shown in red and those from the Uzon Caldera in blue. OTUs shared by both sites are depicted in green. Numbers at branch nodes are bootstrap values (only values ≥25 are shown). The tree is rooted with the 16S rRNA gene sequence of Desulfurococcus kamchatkensis 1221n as an outgroup.
