Deciphering the Translation Initiation Factor 5A Modification Pathway in Halophilic Archaea

Agmatine is essential for the growth of the Hfx. volcanii strain. Hfx. volcanii H26 (WT, parent) and (HVO_1958) were diluted to an OD₆₀₀ of 1 and then spot-plated (15 μL) on solid agar Hv_min medium in serial dilutions as indicated: (a) in absence of agmatine; (b) in presence of 1 μM agmatine; (c) in presence of 5 μM agmatine. Each experiment was performed with two biological replicates and three technical replicates (for description of biological versus technical replicates).
