The Vacuolar-Type -ATPase in Ovine Rumen Epithelium is Regulated by Metabolic Signals

Figure 2

Effect of glucose replacement by 2-DOG and/or of antimycin A application on p H i of ruminal epithelial cells. Measurements were made in either HEPES-buffered H C O 3 -free Na-medium containing 5 mM glucose (control) or in glucose-free media with blockers as indicated. (a): The figure shows original traces from one experiment. (b): To summarize the inhibitor effects, the mean p H i reduction from the p H i measured in control medium with glucose and without metabolic inhibitors has been calculated and is shown for each condition. Inhibitor concentrations are 5 𝜇 M and 20 mM for antimycin A and 2-DOG, respectively. Values are means ± SE from 8 to 9 single measurements; 𝑃 < . 0 5 versus control.
