Effect of normal RBC, pRBC, or supernatants from P. falciparum cultures on the recovery of synthetic ET-1.

aET-1 (5 fmol/mL) was incubated for 24 hours in medium or in the presence of normal unparasitized RBC, pRBC from different P. falciparum strains or supernatants (SNs) from parasite cultures. ET-1 was also incubated with RBC or pRBC in the presence of a protease inhibitor cocktail. At the end of the incubation, ET-1 was detected by ELISA. Data are expressed as % of ET-1 recovery respect to controls and represent the mean ± SD from three different experiments. versus control. |
